Part Models

Part Models are used to define specific models or variants within a brand's product line. This feature is particularly useful for automotive parts, electronics, or any catalog that needs to organize products by manufacturer models.

Overview

Part Models help organize your catalog by:

  • Defining product models: Associate products with specific model names
  • Brand organization: Link models to their parent brands
  • OE Code tracking: Store Original Equipment codes for parts identification
  • Multi-language support: Translate model names for international stores

Understanding Part Models

Part Model Properties

Each part model contains:

  • Brand: The parent brand this model belongs to
  • Name: The display name for the model (translatable)
  • OE Code: Original Equipment code for parts identification (unique)
  • Image: An optional image representing the model
  • Enabled: Whether the model is visible on the storefront

Part Model Purpose

Part Models serve to:

  • Organize products by manufacturer model lines
  • Enable customers to filter products by specific models
  • Track OE codes for parts compatibility
  • Support automotive and parts catalogs
  • Improve product searchability

Managing Part Models

Reviewing Part Models

The Part Models list displays:

  • ID: Unique identifier
  • Brand: The associated brand name
  • Name: The model name (searchable)
  • OE Code: Original Equipment code
  • Image: Thumbnail preview
  • Enabled: Toggle to show/hide on storefront

Creating a Part Model

To create a new part model:

  1. Click the New Part Model button at the top right
  2. Select the Brand from the dropdown (optional)
  3. Choose the parent brand this model belongs to
  4. Enter the Name (required, up to 200 characters)
  5. Examples: "Pro Max", "Ultra", "Classic", "Sport Edition"
  6. Enter the OE Code (optional, must be unique)
  7. This is the Original Equipment code used for parts identification
  8. Must be unique across all part models
  9. Upload an Image (optional)
  10. Click the upload area to select an image file
  11. Recommended for visual identification
  12. Set Enabled toggle (default: on)
  13. When disabled, this model won't appear on the storefront
  14. Click Create to save the part model

Editing a Part Model

To modify a part model:

  1. Click the Edit link in the Action column
  2. Update fields as needed
  3. Click Save to apply changes

Deleting Part Models

To remove a part model:

  1. Click the checkbox next to the model(s) to delete
  2. Use the bulk delete action, or
  3. Click the delete button on individual rows

Note: Ensure no products depend on this model before deleting.

Multilingual Support

Part Model names can be translated to multiple languages:

  1. Use the Locale dropdown to switch languages
  2. Enter the model name in each supported language
  3. The system displays the correct language based on user preferences

Searching and Filtering

Search Functionality

Use the search box to find models by:

  • Name: Search by model name
  • OE Code: Search by Original Equipment code
  • ID: Search by model ID

Filtering

Use the Filter button to filter by:

  • Enabled status: Show only enabled or disabled models
  • Brand: Filter by specific brand

Sorting

Click column headers to sort:

  • ID: Sort by model ID
  • Brand: Alphabetical by brand name
  • Enabled: Group by enabled status

Bulk Actions

Select multiple models using checkboxes to:

  • Delete: Remove multiple models at once
  • Export: Export selected models to a file

Best Practices

Naming Conventions

  • Use clear, consistent model names
  • Include version numbers if applicable (e.g., "Galaxy S24", "iPhone 15")
  • Keep names concise but descriptive

OE Code Management

  • Always enter OE codes when available for parts
  • Ensure codes are unique across all models
  • Use standard industry formats for codes

Organization Tips

  • Group related models under the same brand
  • Use the enabled toggle to hide discontinued models
  • Keep images consistent in style and size
