Gigi Hadid: Twitter is no longer a safe place for anyone

Gigi, 27 years old, commented on her Instagram story, “Twitter has become a hotbed of hatred and intolerance... and therefore I do not want to be part of this place.”

Gigi sent a message to her former followers on Twitter, stressing her love for them and her desire to communicate with them, but she added: “I cannot stay. I cannot say that it is a safe place for anyone. It has only become a source of harm.”

She continued, “I am sorry to all the followers there who I loved communicating with during my time on the platform. I feel that the Twitter platform is no longer a safe place for anyone, but has become only for harm.”

Gigi accompanied her statement with a tweet by Human Rights Advisor Shannon Raj Singh, who worked at Twitter for years, where she said, “Yesterday was my last day at Twitter. All of my colleagues in the Human Rights Department have been terminated.”

Bella Hadid, Gigi Hadid's sister, still has a Twitter account, but it is not effective enough, as she has not posted any tweets on it since August 2022.

In a previous tweet, Shannon said that a large number of Twitter platform employees had been laid off, explaining: “For the uninitiated, Twitter management fired half of its employees last Friday, through emails, in which I assured them that reducing the number of employees is necessary to ensure the company moves forward.”

In addition to Gigi Hadid, American actress Toni Braxton announced that she would also close her account after the mass layoffs carried out by Elon Musk, describing Twitter as no longer a safe platform for her or her children.

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter, he has faced criticism from a number of celebrities and social media audiences, especially after he announced the imposition of an $8 fee on verified accounts marked with a blue mark on the platform.
