Watch this tutorial to learn how to: Category Discount.
Steps in this tutorial
- In this tutorial we will run a discount on a whole category, and see the difference between a real discount and a display-only one.
- From the sidebar menu, click on Categories.
- The Discount column shows which categories are already on sale, including a discount inherited from a parent category.
- Let us open a category to set its discount.
- The pricing options live under the Advanced tab.
- Here is the Pricing section. It holds two different discounts, and it matters which one you pick.
- The real discount lowers the price your customers actually pay. A sixty five product at ten percent sells for fifty eight and a half.
- Customers who have their own special price keep it by default. Turn this on only if you want the sale to apply to them as well.
- The display-only discount is different. It shows a higher crossed-out price beside the current one, but the customer still pays exactly the same.
- This line always tells you what will actually apply, and names the category a discount was inherited from.
- Now let us save the discount.
- The discount is saved and now applies to every product in this category, and to its sub-categories unless they set their own.
- Back on the list, the Discount column confirms the sale is running. Remember to clear it when the sale ends.
