Watch this tutorial to learn how to: Customer Cart Notes.
Steps in this tutorial
- In this tutorial, we will let customers add their own note to each item in the cart, like "three pieces for John". It is a private reminder for the shopper, not a message to the store.
- From the sidebar, click on Settings.
- Open the Cart settings page.
- The Behavior tab holds the cart options. We will turn on customer notes here.
- This is the Enable Customer Notes on Cart Items option. It is off by default.
- Turn the toggle on.
- Click Save to apply the setting.
- Now let us visit the storefront and shop as a customer would.
- Open a product to add it to the cart.
- Add the product to the cart.
- Right after adding, the shopper is asked for a note. Let us write who these pieces are for.
- Now add the same product again for someone else.
- The note box shows what we wrote before. The new note is added underneath, so both are kept together on one cart line.
- Let us open the cart to see the result.
- The cart line shows both notes together, exactly as the shopper typed them.
- The envelope icon lets the shopper reopen and edit the note at any time.
- Here the full note opens for editing, with both lines ready to change or save.
- Now let us place the order. Click Continue to Checkout.
- Fill in the delivery details, then continue.
- Continue to the payment step.
- Choose Payment on Delivery to place the order.
- The order is placed. Let us open it to see the note.
- Open the order to view its details.
- The personal note is saved on the order too, so the customer can always see who each item was for.
