Watch this tutorial to learn how to: Receive Stock.
Steps in this tutorial
- A delivery has arrived from your supplier. Recording it is what puts the stock in and tells your store what it cost.
- Open Modules and go to Purchasing.
- Open the Purchasing group.
- Click Goods Receipts.
- A goods receipt is your record of what actually arrived, and at what price.
- Click Receive Goods.
- Choose who the delivery came from.
- The date the goods actually reached you. The reference is filled in for you.
- The delivery now has a document of its own, numbered for you, so you can quote it back to the supplier.
- Now list what was in the box.
- Now the products. Search for the one that arrived.
- How many units arrived.
- And what you paid for one unit. This is the number your profit reports have been missing.
- Save the receipt. It is still a draft, so nothing has moved yet.
- Posting the receipt is what actually adds the products to your stock.
- You are told plainly what happens next: a posted receipt cannot be changed afterwards.
- Done. The stock is in, and the receipt is now part of your history.
- Let us check what changed. Open Inventory Management.
- Open the Inventory group.
- Click Inventory Management.
- Search for the product you just received.
- There it is. The units you received are now in stock, and nobody had to type the number by hand.
- Click the product name to open it.
- The cost lives on the Pricing and Inventory tab.
- And on the product itself, the cost is now what you actually paid. Receive it again at a different price and this becomes the average of the two.
