Watch this tutorial to learn how to: Pause New Orders.
Steps in this tutorial
- In this tutorial, we will pause new orders for a while, for example during a holiday. Customers can still browse the store, and they see a short message explaining why.
- From the sidebar, click on Settings.
- Open the Checkout settings page.
- Pause New Orders is the first option on the page. While it is on, customers cannot place new orders.
- Turn it on.
- A new option appears: Show a Notice to Visitors. It is already on, so visitors are told why they cannot order.
- Write your own message, or leave it empty to use the default one. You can write it in each language of your store.
- Click Save.
- Now a customer opens the store. The message shows right away, so they know orders are paused before they start shopping.
- The customer taps OK to close it.
- It does not show again while they browse. A day later it shows once more if orders are still paused, and if you change the message, everyone sees the new one.
- Customers can still browse and open any product.
- And they can still add products to the cart.
- Now the customer tries to continue to checkout.
- The order is not placed. The customer sees your message instead, and their cart stays as it is for when you open again.
- When you are ready to take orders again, come back here, turn Pause New Orders off, and click Save.
