Stock Count

Watch this tutorial to learn how to: Stock Count.

Steps in this tutorial

  1. Once in a while you have to walk the shelves and see what is really there. That is a stock count.
  2. Open Modules and go to Inventory.
  3. Open the Inventory group.
  4. Click Stock Counts.
  5. Click New Count.
  6. Name what you are counting, so you can find it again.
  7. Leave this on and whoever counts cannot see what the system expects. Someone who can see twelve tends to write twelve.
  8. Create the count sheet.
  9. Now fill the sheet. Add Products pulls in a whole category or brand at once.
  10. Pick the section of the shop you are standing in.
  11. One line per product, and the counted column is empty. Notice you cannot see what the system thinks.
  12. Type what you actually counted on the shelf, straight into the row.
  13. The next one comes out higher than the system thought. Both directions belong in the same count.
  14. A product you did not reach is simply left empty. It will be skipped, never read as a count of zero.
  15. When the shelf is done, apply the count.
  16. The difference is applied as a difference, not as a replacement, so anything sold while you were counting is not put back.
  17. The count is applied, and now you can see what the system expected against what you found.
  18. Every difference was posted as one stock adjustment. Open it.
  19. One document, under a stock count reason, with the shortages and the extras together. That is your stocktake on record.
