Steps in this tutorial

1. Welcome - virtual items let you sell license keys, gift cards, and other digital codes that get delivered automatically after payment.
2. This is the Virtual Item Lists page. A list groups all the codes that belong to the same product.
3. Click New Virtual Item List to create your first list.
4. Give the list a clear name. We will call it Steam Game Keys for this demo.
5. The Encrypted option encrypts the codes at rest. It can be set only when you create the list, so think carefully - we will leave it off for this demo.
6. Click Create to save the new list.
7. The list now exists, but the Available badge shows zero - there are no codes inside it yet.
8. This is the Virtual Items page where each individual code lives.
9. Click New Virtual Item to add the first code.
10. Pick the list this code belongs to.
11. Enter the code customers will receive - and an optional Info note for your own records.
12. Use Create & create another to immediately add the next code.
13. Add a second code so we have stock for more than one customer.
14. Two codes are now in the list, both still marked as unused.
15. Back on the lists page, the Available badge has turned green and shows two.
16. Now create the product customers will buy. Fill in a name, pick a category, set the price, and add an image.
17. Switch to the Sales & Discounts tab - that is where you link a product to a virtual item list.
18. Pick the Virtual Item List. Every purchase of this product will claim one unused code from this list.
19. Click Create to save the product.
20. Now switch to the storefront as a customer - the admin account works as a customer too, so we can keep using the same session.
21. Find the new digital product and open its page.
22. Click Add to Cart to add the digital product to your cart.
23. The product is in the cart. Let us proceed to checkout.
24. Click Continue to Checkout to start the order.
25. Fill in the contact and address details so the order can be placed.
26. Click Continue to Payment to choose the payment method.
27. Choose Payment on Delivery so we can finish the order without an external gateway.
28. Click Confirm Order to commit the COD order so the merchant can fulfil it.
29. The order is placed - but notice payment has not been recorded yet, so the code stays locked in the list.
30. Open your Orders page to find the new order.
31. Click into the order to see its details.
32. There is no Virtual Items / Codes section yet - the system holds the code until payment is confirmed.
33. Switch back to the admin orders list to record the payment.
34. Open the row actions menu to find the Mark as Paid action.
35. Click Mark as Paid to record the payment for this order.
36. Confirm in the modal - this is the moment the system claims one virtual code from the list and attaches it to the order item.
37. Payment recorded - the order is now paid and a code has been claimed for the customer.
38. Back on the lists page, the Available badge has dropped to one - that is our claimed code.
39. Reload the customer order page - a Virtual Items section now appears with the delivered code.
40. Here is the code, ready for the customer to copy and use.
41. You have seen the full virtual items lifecycle: codes loaded into a list, linked to a product, claimed automatically when payment is confirmed, and delivered to the customer immediately.
