Steps in this tutorial

  1. Stock does not only leave through the till. Things get damaged, expire, or go missing, and your records should say so.
  2. Open Modules and go to Inventory.
  3. Open the Inventory group.
  4. Click Inventory Management.
  5. This screen is every product you track, with what is on hand, what is held in customer carts, and what is really available to sell.
  6. Find the product that was damaged.
  7. This is the quantity before we touch anything.
  8. Every row has an Adjust button. Use it instead of retyping the quantity.
  9. Pick the reason. This is the whole point: months from now the report can tell you what damage actually cost you.
  10. How many units are involved. Four bags were damaged.
  11. A short note if you want to remember the detail.
  12. Apply it.
  13. The stock is down by four, and unlike a hand-typed number this change knows why it happened.
  14. Every one of those is filed as a document. Open Stock Adjustments.

  17. And it is valued at what the stock was carried at, so the loss is a figure and not just a missing quantity.
  18. The reasons are yours to edit. Rename them, or add the ones your own trade needs.

  21. Damage, expiry, theft and a stock correction come ready to use. A pharmacy keeps expiry, a workshop adds "used on a job".
